GRIDNET Community Alert: Important Update on PWTG and Safe Trade Exchange

Executive Summary

As the GRIDNET OS development team, we are committed to transparency and the long-term integrity of our project. This updated community alert provides crucial information regarding the Polish Wash Trading Group (PWTG) and their affiliated “Safe Trade” exchange. We are pleased to inform our community that GNC has been removed from Safe Trade’s platform, which we view as a highly positive development given the deceptive practices we’ve observed and documented below.

Understanding the PWTG Threat

The Polish Wash Trading Group represents a significant concern for cryptocurrency projects and their legitimate investors. Through our extensive investigation, we’ve identified how this group operates:

What is Wash Trading?

Wash trading is a deceptive practice where the same parties buy and sell assets to create artificial trading activity. This false volume creates an illusion of liquidity and market interest, potentially manipulating prices and misleading genuine investors.

The PWTG Strategy

Our intelligence indicates that PWTG acquired GNC tokens at a very early stage and subsequently engaged in OTC (over-the-counter) wash trading. Their apparent goal was to further this deceptive wash trading through their own exchange products, including http://gridnetswap.com/ and the so-called “Safe Trade” exchange.

The Safe Trade Facade: What Our Community Should Know

It’s important to clarify that PWTG facilitated GNC’s integration with Safe Trade entirely without our explicit consent or direct involvement. GRIDNET’s RESTful API is open by design, allowing any entity to list GNC. At the time of initial listing, we had no knowledge of who the early buyers of GNC assets were, as this information isn’t typically available to development teams in decentralized ecosystems.

The timeline reveals a deeply concerning pattern:

  1. Unauthorized Integration: PWTG orchestrated GNC’s listing on Safe Trade without proper consultation with our development team, effectively hijacking our project’s representation on their platform.

  2. Deceptive Exchange Operations: Despite their claims of being a legitimate exchange, Safe Trade demonstrated virtually non-existent liquidity and trading volume for GNC. What little activity existed appears to have been manufactured by PWTG members themselves.

  3. The Telling Moment: Approximately two weeks ago, everything changed when our team requested API access to prepare for legitimate market making activities ahead of our Xt.com listing. Safe Trade’s responsiveness and cooperation deteriorated rapidly—a revealing reaction that speaks volumes about their true intentions.

  4. Suspicious Activities: During this period, we observed several alarming developments:

    • Coordinated attacks on our blockchain
    • Malicious users testing GridScript Value Transfer API with extreme parameter values
    • Deliberate attempts to disrupt transaction processing with specially crafted transactions
    • Safe Trade falsely claiming their transactions weren’t being processed while our systems showed no transactions coming from their end
    • Fabricated reports from Safe Trade about supposed GRIDNET Core software crashes that no other users experienced
  5. The Final Revelation: When challenged with our transparency measures, Safe Trade’s behavior became increasingly erratic, exposing the empty facade of their operation—no real liquidity, falsified volumes, and an apparent inability to process legitimate transactions.

GRIDNET’s Response: Enhanced Transparency and Security

As a development team committed to building robust, decentralized technology, we took immediate action:

  1. Implemented Comprehensive Accountability Measures: We rapidly deployed the chain -c getRecentTransactions -mem functionality, allowing our community to independently verify all broadcast transactions, effectively shining a light on Safe Trade’s questionable operations.

  2. Added Pre-validation Mechanics: To protect against potentially invalid transactions, we implemented additional security features to maintain system integrity.

  3. Issued Community Warnings: After observing Safe Trade’s increasingly deceptive behavior, we issued multiple warnings across our Discord and Telegram channels advising the immediate withdrawal of GNC assets from their platform.

  4. Stood Firm Against Manipulation: When we issued these warnings, PWTG members predictably descended on Safe Trade’s Telegram channel, spreading misinformation and advocating for our delisting—further evidence of their coordinated approach.

A Victory for Integrity: Moving Forward

The removal of GNC from Safe Trade is ultimately a significant victory for our project and community for several key reasons:

  1. Escape from Manipulation: We have successfully distanced ourselves from an exchange with virtually no actual liquidity and demonstrably falsified trading volumes.

  2. Protection from Deception: Our community is now protected from the misleading market signals that Safe Trade’s artificial environment was designed to create.

  3. Enhanced Community Trust: By exposing these practices and severing ties with questionable exchanges, we strengthen trust with our legitimate community members and investors.

  4. Focus on Quality Partnerships: This experience reinforces our commitment to partnering only with reputable exchanges and platforms that share our values of transparency and integrity.

  5. Strengthened Security Measures: The challenges we faced led to improved security and transparency features that benefit our entire ecosystem.
